Party in Pieces

25 Sep - 06 Oct 2024

On September 25, ReA! Arte and the Rachele Bianchi Archive inaugurate Party in Pieces, a collective exhibition featuring works by Alice Capelli, Marco Vignati, and Anna Villa, three artists who have participated in past editions of ReA! Fair. The exhibition, curated by Erica Massaccesi, Rita Meschiari, and Maria Myasnikova, is the result of a collaboration between ReA! Arte and the Rachele Bianchi Archive.

The mediation of the archive curator Giorgio Uberti made it possible to start a dialogue between the past and the present, through which the three artists were able to create works specifically designed for the exhibition, thus giving rise to new interpretative keys to the themes central to Rachele Bianchi’s practice, such as fragility, transformation, and human interiority.

For the exhibition, Alice Capelli conceived installations that skillfully combine raw emotions with delicate materials, inviting reflection on the fleeting and fragile nature of existence, creating an atmosphere that lingers long after the first glance.

Rachele Bianchi protects her fragility from the outside world and judgment. She shapes shields and thick cloaks in which one can find refuge. With maturity, the artist's will evolved, and gradually her feelings became exposed. The cloaks became nets through which air and light filter.
In this way, Marco Vignati interprets and creates his Emulsions, sculptures that center on photographic film, an allegory of the veil, the shield, representing its thinnest and most insubstantial layer.
Anna Villa presents a cycle of sculptures and a poetic workshop, where clay is the protagonist and metaphor for human interiority. Focusing on the malleable aspect of the material, she transforms it into a practice similar to Rachele Bianchi’s. It thus becomes a means and an opportunity for transformation, revealing its dual nature—fragile and strong.

Participating Artists

Alice Capelli (1997) lives and works in Milan.
Her research revolves around the epidermal layer, the physical and bodily dimension, not only from a purely biological and erotic point of view, but also reflecting other aspects for which contemporary society struggles to find a definition. The reference to gender ambiguity and fluidity, both in terms of self-identity and as a concept of identity from a purely technical perspective, is explored through water-based painting. The performative act is represented in works where the marks of an authentic action remain, or where the layers of material used in the performance become a passage to be crossed.

Marco Vignati (1994) grew up and studied in the city of Milan.
After a scientific background, he developed a strong interest in art and photography, successfully completing a degree in visual arts at the European Institute of Design (IED). He immediately began working as a 360° photographer in the fashion and design industries. Even during university, he used an installational approach to conceive photographic images, experimenting with new ways to merge the 'action' of the viewer into them, pushing his artistic research toward a discourse of memory and recollection. His artworks come from a complex and analytical process based on the constant challenge of pushing the limits of photography itself.

Anna Villa (1999) is an Italian artist active in the field of visual arts who lives and works between Milan and Albisola.
Through the use of clay and ceramics, she explores the potential of sculpture and the manipulation of materials in various contexts. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to engage with public sculpture, ceramic design, and contemporary ceramics, winning awards, participating in residencies, an art fair, and deepening her research through workshops and seminars.
